Apple faces hurdles as it positions iPad Pro for business use

"They've tried to ... focus on the enterprise but over the last two years it has really not been successful," said Daniel Ives, a senior analyst at FBR Capital Markets. The enterprise market, which is how Apple refers to its business customers, represents 10 percent of its $183 billion annual revenue, he said.

Apple has at least one client so far: General Electric has given some of its 305,000 employees the option to use Apple devices at work, with 20,000 iPads and 60,000 iPhones now available in their offices. It is not clear how much this is worth for Apple, nor how it generates about $18 billion a year from the enterprise market. http://post.jagran.com/apple-faces-hurdles-as-it-positions-ipad-pro-for-business-use-1442389599

Apple iOS 9 to give four extra hours of iPhone battery life

The operating system will take up a 1.3GB of space to install on the device. iOS 8 required more than 4GB, which caused issues for users requiring them to delete apps.

The new search assistant that is an advance on Apple's Spotlight search facility, integrates with Siri to create a Google Now competitor, capable of displaying data from apps and the web, and controlled via text or voice.

Siri can now offer directions based on invitations pulled automatically from email and leave reminders for the events.

The information displayed is context sensitive, including the ability to understand that the user is looking at something in particular when they say "remind me about this later today". Users can plug in headphones in one location and always get the music app, for instance.

'Smart' home gadgets with Apple's Siri to go on sale this week

The new products could be an important step forward for the emerging industry of "smart" or "connected" homes, where appliances, thermostats and even door locks contain computer chips that communicate wirelessly.

While a number of companies are working on similar products, analysts say Apple could persuade more consumers to try them by making it easy to control different products from a familiar device, such as the iPhone.

Apple announced its "HomeKit" software project a year ago, but isn't making the new products. Instead, other companies have been working to make devices that meet Apple's criteria for compatibility and security.

Two manufacturers are now selling products and three more are accepting online "pre-orders" or plan to begin selling in coming weeks.

HomeKit-certified products hitting the market today include wireless hubs from two companies, Insteon and Lutron Electronics.

The hubs, about the size of a small home router or cable TV box, act as the central controller for lights and other gadgets. The hubs in turn can be managed with a smartphone app.
